Stool Samples for Non-Clinical Researchers
OpenBiome provides stool samples derived from our fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) donors to advance non-clinical microbiome research.
Advancing Microbiome Science Together
We designed Fecal Microbiota Preparation BiosSpecimens (FMP-Bio) for researchers who are interested in developing biological tools from the bacteria found in human stool and are ideal for use in humanized animal models and development of biomarker screening methods.

Fecal Microbiota Preparation BioSpecimen (FMP-Bio)
We customize FMP-Bio packs using small-format samples of stool derived from the same donations that produced our C. difficile treatments. Research samples are available in the following formulations:
Raw, flash-frozen donor stool
- Sample contains approximately 0.7 grams of stool per aliquot.
Donor stool that has been suspended in a glycerol/saline buffer via the same process used to create OpenBiome FMT preparations for clinical use
- Sample prepared at a concentration of 0.1 grams of stool in 1.5 milliliters of buffer
- Sample prepared at concentration of 0.4 grams of stool in 1.5 milliliters of buffer
- Sample prepared at a concentration of 0.7 grams of stool in 1.5 milliliters of buffer
