Fecal Microbiota Preparation BioSpecimen (FMP-Bio)

We customize FMP-Bio packs using small-format samples of stool derived from the same donations that produced our C. difficile treatments. Research samples are available in the following formulations:

Raw, flash-frozen donor stool

Sample contains approximately 0.7 grams of stool per aliquot.

Donor stool that has been suspended in a glycerol/saline buffer via the same process used to create OpenBiome FMT preparations for clinical use

Sample prepared at a concentration of 0.1 grams of stool in 1.5 milliliters of buffer
Sample prepared at concentration of 0.4 grams of stool in 1.5 milliliters of buffer
Sample prepared at a concentration of 0.7 grams of stool in 1.5 milliliters of buffer

Frequently Asked Questions

Research using OpenBiome FMP-Bio packs must be conducted by qualified researchers using a certified biosafety cabinet within a BL2-rated facility. Any well-qualified proposal that furthers the field of microbiome science will be considered for approval.

All submissions will be reviewed quarterly by OpenBiome’s Research Review Panel. Deadlines for each review cycle are on the first of the quarter: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. Submissions after the deadline will be reviewed in the following quarter. If your Non-Clinical Research Request Form is approved, a member of OpenBiome’s Clinical Research team will contact you to arrange contracting, payment, and shipping.
