OpenBiome Resources for Non-Clinical Research
The human microbiome is a transformative new field of medicine. We ensure researchers have the tools they need to make the next breakthrough.
Diversifying Microbiome Science

OpenBiome, through our flagship program the Global Microbiome Conservancy (GMbC), is providing access to the most globally representative collection of microbiome strains and associated data. These research materials are critical for understanding how human health is affected by microbiomes across a wide range of diets, lifestyles, and environments.

Resources for Non-Clinical Research
OpenBiome offers two categories of research materials.
FMP-Bio: Small-format samples of stool derived from rigorously-screened, Boston-based stool donors that provided stool used to manufacture FMT preparations to treat recurrent C. difficile.
Bacterial Isolates from the GMbC Collection: Beginning in Spring of 2023, researchers will be able to order anaerobic bacterial seed stocks derived from stool samples donated by diverse, highly underrepresented communities around the world.
